The Newberg Booster Club is a dynamic group that enjoys working together, supporting our athletic programs and getting to know the Newberg students. We are willing to take on new projects to support our athletes and to foster school spirit. With the budget cuts that our athletic programs are facing next year, the work that the Booster Club is doing will be more important than ever. Please look through the following list and consider becoming a part of our team. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Valerie Hamilton at valeriedhamilton@comcast.net or at 503-554-8062.
Volunteers
Website Coordinator – This is job is easy and fun for anyone who know their way around a website! We now have the ability to add video clips from our home games and there are links to schedules, information about upcoming events and more. We need help keeping things current.
Team Liaisons– Each NHS athletic team will need to have a parent that acts as the link between the Booster Club and your teams. Ideally, the team liaison should be able to attend the first 30 minutes of the monthly Booster meeting to learn about what’s going on with the schools athletic programs and share ideas about how Boosters can help these programs. The team liaisons helped present program grant requests for equipment, supplies and team expenses and the Booster Club was able to fund over $22,000 in requests this year!
Fundraising Coordinator – Help organize fund raising activities such as banner sales, Annual Crab Feed and other events. Work with parents to identify opportunities for matching grants or special fundraising opportunities available through their employers or other community groups.
Spirit Event Coordinator – Coordinate Booster, student groups, faculty and team involvement with Spirit events such as the Jam the Gym night, Homecoming Spirit Fair and Spring Event.
Field of Dreams Committee Member – Serve on the committees that are involved in raising funds for the synthetic turf field and new all-weather track.
Scrip Coordinator- Advertise and run the scrip program which helps families earn money towards paying their student’s athletic and activities fees and supports Booster activities.
Escrip Coordinator – At the start of each season work to register families in the e-scrip program designating the Booster Club as the program they support.
Volunteer Coordinator – Help recruit volunteers for and match them to opportunities to help with Booster Club activities. Work with Team Liaisons to coordinate concessions volunteers.
Concessions Committee Members – The Booster Club Vice President is the head of this committee, however, it takes a team effort to pull everything together. Next year we would like to form a different committee for each of the three seasons so that people can help when it best fits their schedules. Please consider joining this very important committee.
(No experience necessary – We will happily train you!)
Team Leader – Open/close the concession stand and act as shift supervisor Team Volunteer Coordinator – Work with team liaisons to recruit workers to fill concessions slots.
Scheduling – Work with athletic director to draft a master schedule of concessions events for each season and determine the manpower requirements for each event. Distribute schedule to team leaders and team volunteer coordinators and post in the concession stands, keeping the schedule updated and the leaders informed of any changes throughout the season.
Purchasing – Check inventory weekly, place orders or shop for supplies and stock concession stand. Coordinate with representative for drink orders.
Banking – Coordinate banking supplies and ensure that “start-up banks” have enough small denominations and change for each event.
