SCRIP with a few Twists!!
The Booster Club SCRIP Program is still the Fundraising While You Shop opportunity that most of you are familiar with, but our program has a few TWISTS.
(Click on any of the blue links below for more info.)
Half of the money earned through your SCRIP Purchase goes to your child's own account that you can use to pay his or her activities, athletic and academic fees! Whether it’s an athletic participation fee, a charge for team shoes, instrument rental fees, travel expenses to a festival or competition, a lab or workbook fee or another program fee, you can pay these fees with the money you earn from SCRIP!
We offer a wider range of both Local and National Retailers, including gas stations, hotels etc., and bigger discounts than many SCRIP programs.
You can place your order on-line at ShopWithScrip.com
or by downloading our Order Form (please submit both pages when ordering).
You can pay for your order with a check or on-line using PrestoPay™.
Some suppliers offer Reloadable Gift Cards and others offer electronic gift cards through ScripNow!™ that you can print out at home or send as an eGift.
Below are more answers to FAQs for SCRIP.
Purchasing SCRIP
Here are the steps to follow for purchasing SCRIP:
- Complete order form online at ShopWithScrip.com or use the pre-printed Order Form.*
*NOTE: In order to use this electronic ordering system, you will first have to register and set up an account at ShopWithScrip.com. Valerie Hamilton can forward the enrollment code and sign up instructions to you.
- Deliver check – payable to Newberg Booster Club, with "SCRIP" written on the memo line and a copy of your order confirmation or order form – at the Area Coordinator’s house before the Sunday drop-off deadline. (Orders cannot be filled until they are paid for.) It is possible to pay by check online using PrestoPay™, however you must register through ShopWithScrip.com and there is a $.39 cent processing fee per check for this service.
- Pick up your SCRIP at the Area Coordinator’s house Thursday or Friday evening. Or, if you make prior arrangements with Valerie, SCRIP can be available for pick up at the Booster Club Concessions stand during home events on pick-up days.
- The paperwork and payments can be dropped off any time before the due date and they will be held until we submit the order. Just call Stacie Wolfe, 971-222-5558, before dropping by to make sure that she is available. Orders will be available for pick-up after Thursday evening and will be held for you until you can pick them up. Please call Stacie to arrange a time that is mutually convenient.
- Note: We now have $100 Fred Meyer and Safeway gift cards in stock and available for purchase anytime. Please contact Valerie Hamilton to order these. [back to top]
SCRIP Calendar
Orders are due on Sunday evenings and can be picked up on Thursday evenings. Our goal is to place an order every week. If we don't have enough orders to cover the shipping costs, I will hold the orders until the next week and then place them together.
Participating Retailers
We are offering SCRIP from two different programs – Great Lakes SCRIP and Tigard/Tualatin SCRIP – so that we can offer a wide range of both national and local retailers. Contact Valerie Hamilton to get a current list of participating retailers. The retailers and/or discounts they are offering may change from time to time, however, our online order forms will reflect these changes. [back to top]
PrestoPay™
PrestoPay™ is a convenient way for you to pay for your orders on-line, at the time you place your order. After setting up a PrestoPay™ account on the ShopWithScrip.com website, you can choose to debit your designated account for the face value of the order plus a small convenience fee of $0.15. This debit will occur on the day the order is placed. This eliminates the need to drop off a check!
Each time you order you will be given the option to select your payment type – PrestoPay™ or check, during the check-out process.
See shopwithscrip.com/myaccount/proxepay.aspx for more details. [back to top]

FAQs for SCRIP
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is regular debit gift cards and paper gift certificates for specific stores, restaurants, and services that are used just like cash. The SCRIP is issued by national and local retailers where many families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return they ask you to support them by shopping with SCRIP at their stores. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday items like food, clothing and other essentials and, with every purchase, you earn a rebate which can be used to support the Booster Club and to pay for fees on your family account, all without spending additional money.
How can we raise money with SCRIP?
We will be working with the Tigard/Tualatin SCRIP Service Center for local retailers and the Great Lakes SCRIP Center for national retailers. They both purchase large numbers of gift cards at a reduced rate from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers on behalf of non-profit organizations. The Booster Club will buy the SCRIP from the SCRIP Centers at a discount, and re-sell the certificates to families for full face value. The discount, which varies by retailer from two to fifteen percent or more, is the profit that we will earn from this fundraiser. For example, if a person purchased a $25 certificate for United Artist Regal Cinema, they would pay us $25. We would purchase the certificate at an 8% discount, paying $23 for the certificate. The person would have a gift certificate worth the $25 face value and we will have raised a $2 rebate from this transaction.
How will the rebates be used?
The rebates from this fundraiser are used in two ways. A portion of the rebate will support the NHS Booster Club, while the rest will be put into the student’s own account. Money in the student’s account can be used towards his or her athletic, academic or activities fees. Any fee that you would write a check to the NHS bookkeeper for can be paid for with SCRIP funds.
Does Scrip expire?
Cards and certificates can vary in regards to their:
- Expiration date
- Dormancy or non-use fees
- Change-back policies
- Store location use
Purchasers should always read the back of cards to obtain information particular to that store. It also may be helpful to review the guidelines and restrictions online at the retailers list at glscrip.com or noted on the order form before ordering your SCRIP.
Do I get change back from a purchase?
If you use a gift card, any change remaining from a purchase stays on the card. Change may be given up to specific amounts from gift certificates. Make sure your purchase is suitable for the denomination of paper certificates you are using.
How do I know how much money is left on my card?
Most cards have a toll free customer service number listed on the card back (or refer you to their website) to call to check the usage history of your card, or to obtain the card balance.
Where can SCRIP be used?
The national store gift cards (like Borders, Starbucks, Macy’s, etc.) can be used at any store location nationwide and make a great gift for out of town friends and family, or for taking on trips. Some cards/certificates are specific only to the Portland metro area. Please refer to the specific store information printed on the Order Form.
What if I loose my Scrip?
Gift cards and gift certificates are just like cash and must be safeguarded just like money.
Can I get a refund on my Scrip order?
No. Gift cards cannot be returned. Some paper certificates can be returned but there will be a restocking fee. Please order gift cards accurately to avoid errors.
What is the potential benefit for my school or organization?
The potential profit from combined orders is limitless — thousands of $$$ yearly! The greater participation and more orders equate to more money! [back to top]
